Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) will organize Tech Forum for 70 global clients on October 19 in Gastech 2018 held in Barcelona, Spain from October 17 to October 20.

Gastech 2018 is one of the three international gas events together with World Gas Conference (WGC) and LNG Conference. On the Tech Forum, 30 specialists from HHI’s sales, design and R&D fields including Chung Ki-sun, deputy COO of Group Ship/Offshore Marketing and Joo Won-ho, the head of Corporate Technology Institute, will unveil the technology of a new compact regasification system (New HiRegas) which will be applied to a next generation LNG-FSRU.

The regasification system features indirect heating method of composite heat medium and reduces the weight by 70 tons and power consumption by up to 30% compared to previous glycol method. The next-generation LNG-FSRU fitted with this technology is expected to save USD 650,000 of annual operation expense.

HHI has been leading the regasification technology as the core technology for LNG-FSRUs through a series of independent developments of regasification solutions for direct heating system and indirect system based on glycol method.

HHI will be also showing its single mixed refrigerant (SMR) Complete LNG Re-liquefaction system, which boasts of the highest efficiency in the industry.

HHI delivered the LNG carrier mounted with the single-refrigerant re-liquefaction facility in 2016 and completed the LNG carrier equipped with the mixed-refrigerant re-liquefaction facility in last February for the first time in the world.

Joo Won-ho, head of Corporate Technology Institute, said, “On this special tech occasion, our focus is next generation re-gasification systems and mixed-refrigerant complete re-liquefaction facility. We continue to bring forth new innovation for LNG-related technology including LNG-powered propulsion systems and small LNG bunkering vessel and maintain our leadership in the LNG market.

HHI Group obtained orders of four SMR-mounted LNG carriers last July. HHI Group won orders for 14 out of the 35 LNG carriers contracted so far this year at the global market.

HHI Group will exhibit various LNG models including the world’s first LNG powered VLCC, LNG carrier, LNG-FSRU and LNG bunkering vessel at Gastech 2018.
